What do you do with the information you collect?We use the data to create a representation of how and what people purchase in UK and the adverts they have seen. This is valuable information for manufacturers and retailers. Be assured we do not provide any private information to 3rd parties.

How much can I earn?Lots! You receive a small fixed reward for each valid receipt you provide and a variable amount for completing surveys. However, the biggest rewards come from when our clients use your data. It is our commitment to return 33% of their spend with us directly to the users whose data is used. Thus, the more and better quality data you provide (we only want receipts from you and your household), the more likely it will have value for our clients and you will receive a share of their investments. As you level up, your data becomes more valuable to clients, so at Level 2 you earn twice as much as Level 1 and at Infinity level you earn twice as much again!

I’ve got a new phone, will I have to start again?No, just download the app on your new phone and login. All your data will still be there.

Why have I dropped a level?If you’ve forgotten to upload receipts consistently your level may be dropped. This will mean that you will earn less through client payments. You can climb up to a higher level again by sending in at least one receipt every week.

How can I progress to a higher level?You can move up to a higher level by completing a demographic survey sending in at least one valid receipt every week for a number of weeks in a row. You can check this on the ‘progress’ page of the app. Remember to continue submitting receipts weekly so you dont drop back down to a lower level!

What benefits will I get by reaching level 2?Once you've reached level 2 you will earn double the amount of money through client payments than you did at level 1!

What benefits will I get by reaching level infinity?Not only will you earn 4X the amount of money through client payments than a level 1, if you submit at least 1 valid receipt every week you will receive an additional loyalty bonus every 7 weeks.

Are you listening to my conversations?NO, NEVER. Chass'ad technology means that the only thing that leaves your phone are encrypted numeric profiles of the sound your phone has heard, this means if we can match those profiles to the encrypted profiles of adverts we know you have heard an advert. We have no way of listening to your conversations!

I can't get the Ad Detector to be switched onIf you go to the settings page for your phone, select applications, and find the Clear! app listed - try allowing microphone access if it is not already enabled.

Which receipts are valid?Any receipt for a physical product bought in UK within the 7 days from submission. They must be your receipts or receipts from members of your household. You can not submit duplicate receipts. We also limit the number of receipts per week and per retailer on any day that will be rewarded.

Why can I only submit 22 receipts per week?We put a limit on, as experience suggests this is towards the top end of the number of receipts a household receives in a week and we want to avoid people providing receipts that aren't their own. This app's success lies in providing great data to our clients that truly represents the products you've bought. The better and more accurate the data the more successful we will be and the more money you will earn. If you believe you are genuinely receiving more please contact us and we will review the limit.

Can I send e-receipts?Yes, if you forward your digital receipt to the email address receipts@clear-app.com they will be treated just the way that paper receipts are. The data these generate for understanding consumer behaviour are just as important to our clients as paper receipts

How can I scan a long receipt?Line up the scanner with the top of your receipt and press the blue circle at the bottom of the screen to take a photo. Then press the blue cross and reposition your camera so that the next section of the receipt is aligned with the photo you have already taken. Press the blue circle again to take a second photo. Repeat this until the whole receipt has been scanned then press either RETAKE (to start again) or FINISH. Then press OK to submit!

How long do e-receipts take to processThey normally take a minute or two to fully process but please leave it 24 hours before querying an issue. Remember receipts must be forwarded to receipts@clear-app.com from the email you registered with Clear! If you think you've missed an e-receipt reward you can contact us at support@clear-app.com

Why did I get different rewards for different receipts?We give an extra 5p for certain grocery receipts as these are currently the most interesting to our clients.

How can I redeem the money I’ve earned?If you click on your ‘wallet’ on the homepage of the app you'll be able to follow the instructions to redeem your rewards in multiples of £5. You can use your rewards in the form of vouchers for a large range of high street brands, for example Amazon and Apple.

Is my usage data kept private?Yes! All data in anonymised before being provided to clients so there's no way they can identify you or individually advertise to you. They use the data at an aggregated level to identify the impacts of advertising.

I'm stuck in a loop trying to give Usage Monitor permissionsIf you are trying to accept permissions and keep returning to the accept/reject screen then accepting a second time should take you through to the registration screen.
